We stock a selection of ducks at various points of the year. Here are some examples of our birds:

Aylesbury duck Aylesbury
The Aylesbury is one of the largest breeds of domesticated duck, originally bred for its meat. It is noted for its attractive appearance, with its white feathering and bright orange legs. Pure bred Aylesburys have a pink coloured bill, commercial cross-breeds have an orange bill.

Khaki Campbell duck Khaki Campbell
The Campbell breed originated at the end of the 19th Century and is found in three colour variations: dark, white and khaki, so-called because of its resemblance to British Army uniforms! A smaller duck, Campbells are famed for a high level of egg production, sometimes laying 300 eggs per year.

Cayuga duck Cayuga
The Cayuga is a breed of domesticated duck used for egg and meat production; its name is taken from Cayuga Lake in New York State where the breed became popular. It has a black bill and black feathering with an iridescent green in the correct light; ducklings also have black plumage. It is generally docile and tends not to wander; in addition, the Cayuga does not quack as loudly or often as other breeds.

Welsh Harlequin duck Welsh Harlequin
A breed originating in Wales in the late 1940's, the Harlequin duck was bred from the Khaki Campbell; they are therefore smaller sized ducks, but are good egg layers. The females are a creamy white colour with brown markings, with a distinctive dark green bill; drakes are similar to Mallards but slightly more muted in colour.

Muscovy duck Muscovy
The Muscovy duck originates from South and Central America, not in fact from Moscow as is commonly thought. They have a distinctive red or red and black face and most commonly white and black in colour, although pure white and lavender Muscovies are also found. The drakes are substantially larger than ducks; between 10 and 15 lbs as opposed to 6 to 8 lbs for the females.
